Periodic Acid Schiff. It stains the glycogen, mucosubstances and the carbohydrates. Besides observing the glandular cells containing these substances, it also allows us to see the basement membrane of the epithelia. Fungi such as candida are also stained with PAS and are easier to be seen. It dyes in magenta color.
Used as routine technique for observing the basal membranes that separate the chorion epithelial tissue. It stains the nuclei in blue color, the glycogen in purple, and the PAS material+ (simple polysaccharides, neutral mucopolysaccharides, mucoproteins, glycoproteins and glycolipids) in red-pink.
